With Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) becoming a more recognized topic in the Vietnamese business scene, demand for support on implementing CSR activities is also rising. One important issue is the lack of environmental protection and lack of enforcement of existing laws. Thus economic incentives can be an alternative to initiate a change of mind.

With a joint effort to support vietnamese small and medium enterprises to implement CSR in their business in certain extent, the DED, InWEnt and the Vietnamese counterpart BPSC (Business Promotion and Service Center) organised jointly different trainings on Good House Keeping (GHK) for potential future trainers, managers and enterprises.

In the first phase InWEnt and DED will support BPSC in the certification of four GHK trainers. During that process, twelve companies will use the GHK concept and implement measures to reduce non-product output in their factories.

The GHK concept focuses on the economic benefit of reducing non-product outputs. During GHK visits of factories the management and trainers systematically search for opportunities to reduce waste production and reduce the use of energy and of other resources. Based on a cost-benefit analysis of the options managers then can prioritize on GHK measures.

15 different training courses, comprising training of trainers, training of enterprises, action learning set and case studies have been conducted in 2010 in different provinces in Vietnam.
