On Friday, 4 July 2008, a Trilateral Cooperation Agreement was signed between GTZ Macroeconomic Reform Programme, State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) and InWEnt International Capacity Building, Germany to conduct the Executive Training Programme for SBV senior staff in 2008-2009. The training programme has been conducted since 2006 within the cooperation framework between GTZ and SBV but this is the first time it is developed as a Training of Trainer (ToT) model with the purpose to ensure the sustainability of the programme for SBV.
The training program comprises 6 modules focusing on Macroeconomics Management, Monetary Policy, Financial Markets, Banking Supervision, Leadership and International Integration of the Banking and Financial Sector. Participants of the training are directors at SBV head office and branches and teachers at Banking Academy, National Economics University. Lecturers are professors from universities in the U.S. and other senior central bankers from developed countries such as Germany and Australia. In this programme, along with SBV directors being trained, potential future trainers will also be identified, supported and mentored in developing teaching skills and materials so that they can continue to provide similar kind of training for the next generation of SBV staff after 2009.
