Develop concepts and strategies for the introduction and implementation of health impact assessment
Overview:
This programme supports a WHO capacity building programme for the introduction of health impact assessment in the countries of the Mekong basin. Health impact assessment (HIA) includes the assessment of policies, programmes, or projects with the target to determine potential impacts on the health of the community. HIA is a broad approach consisting of measures which, by considering factors relevant to health, attempt to attain, in various ways, the basic concept of a coordinated reaction to health risks, promotion of health, and prevention of diseases. During policy seminars, training courses and ToT measures, concepts and strategies for the implementation of HIA are developed together with national ministry-level decision-makers and technical and executive health sector staff.
Target Group: Technical and executive staff from the health sector and other relevant sectors, such as the ministries responsible for environment and planning
