InWEnt's International Institute for Journalism (IIJ) strengthens capacity of newspaper, news agency and online journalism

Independent and critical mass media play an essential role in the promotion of justice, peace and  democracy. The degree of political freedom and economic efficiency of a society depends to a considerable degree on whether the media effectively carry out their role in providing information to the public, helping the public to shape an independent opinion, and making power structures accountable. The existence of well-trained and professional journalists is a basic pre-requisite for the media to be able to fulfil this task in a responsible way.

With a series of individual measures in Germany and abroad, InWEnt's International Institute for Journalism (IIJ) strengthens technical capacity as well as professional and ethical standards of newspaper, news agency and online journalists in the partner countries of German Development Cooperation.
