Promotion of Management Capacity in Hospitals
Leading health personnel become familiar with modern management instruments to guaranteeeffective, efficient and needs-oriented management in health care facilities

Overview:

Although public hospitals play a significant role in the state's health referral system in the Asian partner countries and use up a high proportion of the health sector budget, service quality and availability, management efficiency and effectiveness, standards of buildings and equipment, and the accessibility of poor population groups to hospital care are frequently limited. Poor population groups can usually access medical services only in public hospitals. Consequently, effective hospital care is particularly important for the health of mothers and children, the treatment of diseases such as HIV/AIDS or malaria, for casualty surgery, and for other treatment areas.
In a one-year, modular International Leadership Training programme in "Hospital Management" in Germany, young executive staff are prepared to take up responsible leadership positions in the health institutions of their home countries. The further training programme consists of a preparatory phase in the home country, a twelve-month training phase in Germany, which includes technical theory and internships in German hospitals, and an on-the-job transfer phase in the home country. Various specialized partners in the German hospital sector are involved in the training. During the entire training, the transfer of knowledge is supported through the electronic learning platform "Global Campus 21".
