| SEAL - Social Standards Exchange of Experience in Southeast Asia and Practical Learning |
|
Sensitization seminars and training programmes impart the knowledge required for the implementation of a social management system (SMS)
Overview:
In view of the increasing importance of sustainability within consumer initiatives worldwide, in-built sustainability is developing into a pre-requisite for competitive enterprises and regional development planning. Uncontrolled exploitation of people and resources paralyses the motivation for technological innovation and retards the emergence of a strong domestic market. By acknowledging human rights, implementing socially and environmentally friendly production methods, and demanding comparable standards in their suppliers, enterprises contribute to the fight against extreme poverty, and enhance sustainable development and regional competitiveness. The implementation of basic working standards still faces difficulties in both the private and the public sector. At the same time it is becoming increasingly obvious that adherence to social standards and improved working conditions also has economic advantages. The drawback is that in order to introduce these standards, financial and human resources need to be deployed. Neither state organizations nor organizations for the promotion of SME and economic development in general are prepared for the subsequent tasks. This is due to insufficient access to information on this complex topic and a lack of reasonably-priced services for the implementation of social standards at the enterprise level. Sensitization seminars and training programs impart the knowledge required for the implementation of a social management system (SMS). Multipliers are trained in ToT measures.
Target Group: Technical and executive staff of state institutions for the planning and promotion of economic development; provincial governments, chambers and associations; service providers in economic development and private enterprise consulting companies; teaching staff of further education institutions dealing with the promotion of investments and export
